Our story

Built to connect Zimbabwe’s businesses, whatever phone they carry.

Where we started

Aventus Business Solutions (Private) Limited was founded by two seasoned IT professionals: a systems engineer and a software engineer. Between them, they had spent years building and running the technology businesses depend on every day, and seeing firsthand where it fell short.

That combination shaped how we work. The systems engineer asks whether something will hold up under real conditions: unreliable networks, expensive data, and devices of every age. The software engineer asks whether it’s simple enough that people will actually use it. Together, those questions keep us focused on real pain points in Zimbabwe’s business sector, not technology for its own sake.

Today, Aventus is a growing team, and that founding approach still guides everything we build.

The problem we set out to solve

In Zimbabwe, doing business often depends on who you already know. A buyer looking for a supplier, a service provider, or fresh produce relies on word of mouth, long phone calls, or a trip across town, often with no way of knowing whether the other side is genuine until they meet in person.

Meanwhile, many of the people with the most to offer are the hardest to reach online. A farmer with a harvest coming in may run a thriving operation from a basic feature phone, with no smartphone, no data bundle, and no website. The opportunity is there on both sides. The connection is missing.

The milestone we’re working towards

We’ve chosen to build quietly and let our work speak before we do. We’ll tell our story more widely when we reach one defining milestone.

Buyer, smartphone Farmer, feature phone
A buyer with an iPhone in Harare agrees a deal with a farmer selling upcoming produce from a feature phone, before the two of them ever meet.

It sounds simple. It’s the hardest problem we could have picked. It means building trust between strangers, making verified information available to everyone regardless of their device, and letting people from very different backgrounds do business on equal terms.

When that happens routinely, we’ll know we’ve built something that matters.

How we’re getting there

Our flagship venture, ZimListings, is Zimbabwe’s trusted business directory, and the platform through which that milestone will happen. Businesses and service providers list what they offer; buyers request quotes and find verified providers.

We’re building it to meet people where they are: on the web, through mobile apps, and on WhatsApp, with further channels planned for people without smartphones or data. A buyer posts what they need, and a seller can respond from whatever device they have.

From that core, we’re extending ZimListings into the sectors where these connections matter most, beginning with agriculture, where producers can list their harvest before it’s ready and buyers can post what they need in advance.

What we believe

Every business deserves to be found

The size of your operation, or the phone in your pocket, shouldn’t decide who can do business with you.

Trust has to be earned and shown

Verification and transparency come first, so people can do business with confidence before they meet.

Technology should fit people

We design for Zimbabwe’s realities: patchy connectivity, costly data, and a wide range of devices.
